please see the following tip of the day from our communications chair Laura Laudenbach:
Hello,
If a customer renews tabs through the mail, you may see some changes to their account.
The check is now deposited to the customer’s record when it is cashed.
The state is no longer sending checks back to the customer for missing account information.
The balance will show on their account until the tabs are issued.
In some cases, missing insurance may be the cause of a record balance and tabs not issued.
You will still be able to process tabs in office using the credit from the state.
It should show a balance at checkout. In some cases this may be more or less than the record shows and you may need to collect additional fees.(wheelage tax discrepancies, etc)
If there is still a balance on the record, it will stay on there until the customer initiates a refund.
